How to Install Thomas & Betts PS Series Internal Pipe Seals

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing Thomas & Betts PS Series Internal Pipe Seals to create a watertight seal around cables in pipe installations. Installation must be performed by trained installers in accordance with all applicable local, state and national electrical codes, installation standards and safety rules.

Supplies needed:

PS Series Pipe Seal body, Cable Sealing Rocket, Flood-Seal Rocket, Silicone grease, Insulated cables

  1. Prepare Cables

    Train insulated cables through the cable openings of the Pipe Seal body.

  2. Seat Pipe Seal Body

    Slip the Pipe Seal body over the cables and up to the pipe opening. Apply silicone grease to the pipe sealing portion of the body and to the cable openings. Seat the body firmly into the open end of the pipe.

  3. Prepare Cable Sealing Rockets

    Select the cut-off ring on each Cable Sealing Rocket that matches the cable size and cut it. Repeat this process for each cable sealing rocket to be used.

  4. Seal Unused Openings (Optional)

    For single-phase applications, seal any unused openings with an uncut “Flood-Seal” Rocket.

  5. Install Cable Sealing Rockets

    Apply generous amounts of silicone grease to the cables and to the cut opening of each Cable Sealing Rocket. Slide the appropriate rocket over each cable until it locks securely into the Pipe Seal body.
