How to Install the MD1614F-0 Motor Disconnect

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and configuring the MD1614F-0 motor disconnect, including wiring and calibration.

Estimated time: 45m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter, Crimping tool

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Ty-Rap cable ties

  1. Disconnect power

Ensure that all power to the installation area is disconnected to prevent electrical shock. Verify with a multimeter.

  2. Mount the disconnect

Secure the MD1614F-0 motor disconnect to the designated mounting surface using the provided mounting screws. Ensure it is level and stable.

  3. Strip and connect wires

Strip the ends of the wires to the appropriate length as specified in Table III. Attach the wires to the male and female motor disconnects, ensuring correct polarity.

  4. Crimp the connectors

Use the appropriate crimping tool to securely crimp the connectors onto the wires. Ensure a solid connection to prevent any electrical failures.

  5. Insert male pin into female barrel

Push the male pin fully into the female barrel to create a secure connection. Ensure it is seated properly.

  6. Install the boot/insulator

Slide the boot/insulator onto the pigtail connectors until it stops. This will provide insulation and protection.

  7. Secure the boot with cable ties

Fasten the first Ty-Rap cable tie at the middle of the boot/insulator and tighten it snugly. Fasten the second tie 1/4” from the end of the boot and cut off any excess.

  8. Dress lead assemblies

Carefully dress the lead assemblies into the junction box, ensuring no wires are pinched or damaged.

  9. Reconnect power and test
