How to Install J6-266662-25-R Deadbreak Junction with Universal Mount
This guide provides detailed instructions for installing the J6-266662-25-R Deadbreak Junction using the Universal Mount method. It covers determining the mounting location, assembling the brackets, securing the junction, and grounding the assembly. Ensure all apparatus are de-energized before beginning installation to prevent serious injury or fatality.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Wrench set (for 3/8" and 1/2" hex fasteners), Wire strippers, Marking tool, Drill (if required by suitable fasteners)
Supplies needed:
J6-266662-25-R Deadbreak Junction (includes Base Bracket, Base Plate, 4 Universal Brackets, Mounting Hardware Prepack), Suitable fasteners (for mounting universal brackets to surface), Grounding wire (No. 2 solid to 1/0 stranded), ELASTIMOLD approved lubricant, HV insulated cap(s) or connector(s) (for unused interfaces)
- Determine Mounting Location
Determine the desired location for the junction assembly. Using the base plate as a template, place it on the mounting surface and mark all slot locations.
- Mount Initial Universal Brackets
Attach two (2) universal brackets to the flat surface using suitable fasteners. Tighten securely to ensure no movement during operation.
- Assemble Remaining Universal Brackets
Attach the remaining two (2) universal brackets to the two (2) universal brackets already mounted on the surface at the desired angle using the supplied hardware. Tighten securely.
- Attach Junction to Base Bracket Assembly
Assemble the deadbreak junction to the base bracket assembly and base plate. Use two (2) 1/2” hex head cap screws, two (2) 1/2” split lock washers, and two (2) 1/2” hex nuts, attaching them to the center mounting holes on the bracket assembly. Tighten securely.
- Secure Junction Assembly to Universal Brackets
Attach the deadbreak junction assembly to the universal brackets using the supplied hardware. Tighten securely. Ensure the parking stand is in the upright position.
- Ground the Junction Assembly
The base bracket assembly and the junction’s black conductive jacket must be grounded. A grounding lug is provided on the base bracket for this purpose. Connect a grounding wire (No. 2 solid to 1/0 stranded) to this lug and ensure it is properly grounded.
- Prepare Operating Interfaces
Remove all protective shipping caps from the operating interfaces and clean them thoroughly. Lubricate each interface with an ELASTIMOLD approved lubricant. DO NOT SUBSTITUTE, as other lubricants may be harmful to this product or its mating product(s).
- Install Insulated Caps on Unused Interfaces
If not all operating interfaces are utilized, appropriate HV insulated caps must be installed on the unused bushing(s) before energization. Do not use the protective shipping caps for this function, as they are not insulated and are only intended to keep the operating interfaces clean during handling and installation.
