For 600 Amp, the rating is 25kA Sym for 10 Cycles. For 200 Amp, it is 10kA Sym for 10 Cycles.
What interface spacing options are available?
The junctions are available with standard 4'' spacing or an optional 6.5'' spacing.
Do these junctions meet industry standards?
Yes, the junctions meet ANSI/IEEE Standard 386, Latest Revision.
What type of connectors are compatible with these junctions?
These junctions provide mating for Elastimold Elbow connectors, compatible with both 600 Amp and 200 Amp.
What are the continuous current ratings for the junctions?
The continuous current ratings for the junctions are either 600 Amp or 200 Amp.
What is the maximum operating voltage for the 35kV class?
For the 35kV voltage class, the maximum phase-to-ground operating voltage is 21.1kV.
What is the maximum operating voltage for the 25kV class?
For the 25kV voltage class, the maximum phase-to-ground operating voltage is 16.2kV.
What is the maximum operating voltage for the 15kV class?
For the 15kV voltage class, the maximum phase-to-ground operating voltage is 8.3kV.
Is there a rule for mixing 200 Amp and 600 Series interfaces?
When a 200 Amp interface is on one side and a 600 Series interface is on the other, always start with the 200 Amp side.
How to Install a Deadbreak Junction with Universal Mount
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing a two-, three-, or four-point deadbreak junction (e.g., J2-26-15) using the universal mounting method, including securing brackets, assembling the junction, and grounding the unit.
Estimated time: 1h
Tools needed:
Wrenches (for 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch hex nuts/cap screws), Fastener driver (e.g., screwdriver or drill/driver for mounting fasteners), Wire strippers
Supplies needed:
Deadbreak Junction (J2-26-15), Base Bracket, Base Plate, Universal Brackets (4), Mounting Hardware Prepack (includes various screws, washers, nuts), Suitable fasteners (for attaching universal brackets to mounting surface), Grounding wire (No. 2 solid to 1/0 stranded), ELASTIMOLD approved lubricant, HV insulated caps (for unused bushings)
- Prepare for Installation and Mark Location
Ensure all apparatus is de-energized before beginning installation to prevent serious or fatal injury. This product should only be installed by competent personnel trained in high voltage electrical equipment safety practices. Determine the desired location for the junction assembly. Use the base plate as a template, place it on the mounting surface, and mark all four slot locations for the universal brackets.
- Mount Universal Brackets
Secure two universal brackets to the marked slot locations on the flat surface using suitable fasteners. Tighten these fasteners securely to prevent any movement during operation. Attach the remaining two universal brackets to the previously mounted brackets at the desired angle using the supplied 3/8 inch hex head cap screws, external tooth lock washers, and 3/8 inch hex nuts. Tighten securely.
- Assemble and Mount Deadbreak Junction
Assemble the deadbreak junction to the base bracket assembly and base plate. Use two 1/2 inch hex head cap screws, two 1/2 inch split lock washers, and two 1/2 inch hex nuts, attaching them to the center mounting holes on the bracket assembly. Tighten securely. Attach the complete deadbreak junction assembly to the universal brackets using the supplied 1/2 inch hex head cap screws, 1/2 inch split lock washers, and 1/2 inch hex nuts. Ensure the parking stand is in the upright position and tighten all fasteners securely.
- Ground the Assembly
Connect a grounding wire (No. 2 solid to 1/0 stranded) to the grounding lug provided on the base bracket. Ensure the base bracket assembly and the junction's black conductive jacket are properly grounded.
- Prepare for Operation
Remove all protective shipping caps from the operating interfaces and clean them. Lubricate each interface with an ELASTIMOLD approved lubricant; do not substitute, as other lubricants may be harmful. If all operating interfaces are not utilized, install appropriate HV insulated caps on unused bushings before energization. Do not use shipping caps for this purpose, as they are not insulated.
