What are the voltage and current ratings of the junction?
The junction is rated for 15kV, 25kV, or 35kV voltage classes. It supports continuous currents of either 200 Amp or 600 Amp.
What connectors are compatible with these junctions?
These junctions provide mating for Elastimold Elbow connectors, supporting both 600 Amp and 200 Amp types.
What materials are used in the junction's construction?
The junction features a molded rubber housing with 100% peroxide-cured insulation and conductive EPDM materials. Brackets utilize 304 stainless steel for corrosion prevention.
Which industry standard does this product meet?
The multipoint junctions meet ANSI/IEEE Standard 386, Latest Revision.
What interface spacing options are available?
The junctions offer standard 4'' spacing or an optional 6.5'' spacing for interfaces.
What does the Tilt Mounting Adapter (TMA) do?
The TMA bolts to the standard mounting bracket, providing an adjustable angle of 15, 30, 45, or 60 degrees. Two adapters are required for this option.
How should 200 Amp and 600 Amp interfaces be ordered?
When a junction has both 200 Amp and 600 Series interfaces, always start with the 200 Amp side when specifying.
What items are included in a standard junction kit?
Each kit contains a basic molded junction, mounting hardware, two tubes of lubricant, installation instructions, and a protective cap.
Where can these multipoint junctions be installed?
ELASTIMOLD junctions are designed for subsurface, vault, or padmount applications. They feature a fully shielded and fully submersible molded rubber housing.
What items are included in a standard junction kit?
Each kit contains a basic molded junction, mounting hardware, lubricant tube, installation instructions, and a protective cap.
How to Install a Deadbreak Junction with Universal Mount
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for safely installing a deadbreak junction using the universal mount method. Always ensure all apparatus are de-energized before beginning installation, and only competent personnel trained in high voltage electrical equipment should perform this procedure.
Estimated time: 1h
Tools needed:
Wrench, Wire strippers, Measuring tape, Marker
Supplies needed:
Deadbreak Junction, Base Bracket, Base Plate, Universal Brackets, Mounting Hardware (screws, washers, nuts), Suitable fasteners (for mounting brackets), Grounding wire (No. 2 solid to 1/0 stranded)
- Determine Mounting Location
Determine the desired location for the junction assembly. Use the base plate as a template, place it on the mounting surface, and mark the slot locations for drilling or fastener placement.
- Mount First Universal Brackets
Attach two universal brackets to the marked flat surface using suitable fasteners. Tighten them securely to prevent any movement during operation.
- Assemble Remaining Universal Brackets
Attach the remaining two universal brackets to the two brackets already mounted on the surface at the desired angle using the supplied hardware (3/8” hex head cap screw, external tooth lock washer, 3/8” hex nut). Tighten securely.
- Assemble Junction to Base Assembly
Assemble the deadbreak junction to the base bracket assembly and base plate. Use two 1/2” hex head cap screws, two 1/2” split lock washers, and two 1/2” hex nuts, attaching them to the center mounting holes on the bracket assembly. Tighten all components securely.
- Secure Junction Assembly
Attach the complete deadbreak junction assembly to the universal brackets using the supplied hardware (1/2” hex head cap screw, 1/2” split lock washer, 1/2” hex nut). Ensure the parking stand is in the upright position and tighten securely.
- Ground the Junction Assembly
Ground the base bracket assembly and the junction’s black conductive jacket. Connect a grounding wire (No. 2 solid to 1/0 stranded) to the grounding lug provided on the base bracket for this purpose.
