Overview

The ABB HSC300 Heat-Shrinkable End Caps, part of the robust HSC Series, offer superior cable end sealing for demanding industrial applications. Engineered for large-gauge conductors ranging from 800 to 1250 MCM, these end caps provide an efficient and positive seal, replacing traditional methods like greases, tapes, or epoxies. With an expanded diameter of 3.5 inches and a length of 4.5 inches, the HSC300 ensures a secure fit and comprehensive protection. Constructed from thermally stabilized, cross-linked polyolefin, the exterior offers excellent abrasion and corrosion resistance. The interior is lined with a meltable thermoplastic adhesive, which, upon heating, creates a watertight seal, providing complete insulation and protection against environmental ingress. This adhesive lining is crucial for maintaining cable integrity in challenging conditions. The HSC300 is qualified to ANSI C119.1-1986 and rated to ICEA electrical withstand tests for 1,000 volts, with a continuous use rating of 600 volts at 90°C. This makes them suitable for live seals on cables carrying up to 1,000V, as well as for end sealing de-energized cables during storage or pulling. The material's temperature range spans from -67°F to 230°F (-55°C to 110°C), ensuring performance across a wide spectrum of operating environments. Furthermore, the thick wall construction is suitable for direct burial applications, meeting UL 486D standards, and the flame-retardant outer wall meets UL 224 VW-1 flammability requirements. Installation is streamlined due to the heat-shrinkable design, allowing for quick and reliable application in less than a minute for most sizes. The black color provides a professional finish. These end caps are also CSA 244528 certified and meet Mil Spec AMS-DTL-23053/15, underscoring their high-performance capabilities. With a 10-year shelf life, the HSC300 offers long-term reliability and readiness for critical electrical infrastructure.
