Overview

The ABB HSC500 Heat-Shrinkable End Caps, part of the HSC Series, are engineered for robust cable termination in demanding industrial environments. Designed to accommodate cable ranges from 1500 to 2500 MCM, these end caps provide an efficient and positive seal, effectively replacing traditional methods like greases, tapes, or epoxy encapsulation. The HSC500 features a substantial expanded diameter of 4.7 inches and a usable cap length of 5.5 inches, ensuring a secure fit over various cable sizes. Constructed from thermally stabilized, cross-linked polyolefin, the outer wall offers excellent insulation and abrasion resistance. The interior is coated with a meltable thermoplastic adhesive liner that creates a watertight seal upon heating, providing complete insulation and protection against moisture ingress and corrosion. These end caps are rated for 600 Volt and 90°C continuous use, meeting ANSI C119.1-1986 and ICEA electrical withstand test requirements. They are suitable for sealing over lead, steel, aluminum, copper, and all standard plastic and elastomeric insulating materials, as well as conduit. The heat-shrinkable design allows for rapid installation, often in less than a minute, simplifying the termination process. The HSC500 can be used as a live seal for cables up to 1,000V or as an end seal for storing and pulling de-energized cables. With a 10-year shelf life, these end caps offer long-term reliability. Applications include power distribution, industrial wiring, and utility infrastructure where dependable cable end sealing is critical. The black color is suitable for outdoor and direct sunlight applications. Manufactured in the US.
