Overview

The ABB GUAX49-TB is a 1-1/4 inch hazardous location conduit outlet box engineered for critical electrical installations in potentially explosive atmospheres. This explosionproof and dust-ignitionproof enclosure is constructed with a durable ductile iron body, zinc-plated for enhanced corrosion resistance, and paired with a die-cast aluminum cover. The internal volume of 72 cubic inches provides ample space for wiring connections, conduit fittings, and device mounting, making it ideal for junction points in branch conduit systems. Designed for Class I, Groups C & D; Class II, Groups E, F & G; and Class III hazardous locations, the GUAX49-TB meets NEMA 3, 4, 7 CD, and 9 EFG ratings. The precision-machined NPT threaded hubs allow trouble-free field installation with rigid or IMC conduit, while the coined conduit stops eliminate rough edges for safer wire pulling. The copper-free aluminum cover (alloy A360 with <0.004% copper) resists corrosion in harsh environments. Key applications include junction points for branch conduits, accessible wiring chambers for system maintenance, and mounting locations for OEM devices or instruments in industrial and hazardous-area installations. The box’s rugged construction and clear cubic content markings streamline inspector approvals. With a 1.260-inch hub diameter and 1.360-inch overall depth, this outlet box is a reliable choice for demanding electrical infrastructure projects where safety and durability are paramount.
