Estimated time: 30m
Tools needed:
Wire strippers
Supplies needed:
Silicon grease, Electrical connector, Silicone sealant
- Select Correct Cut-Off Ring
Identify the cable size being used. Select the appropriate cut-off ring on the rocket sleeve and cap that corresponds to your cable size (e.g., #14 to #8, #8 to #4, #4 to 1/0).
- Prepare Rocket Sleeve and Cap
Using the selected cut-off ring as a guide, cut off the tip of the rocket sleeve and cap at the arrow. Ensure the correct cable size marking remains visible on the opened rocket and cap after cutting.
- Prepare Cable Insulation
Carefully bevel or pencil the cable insulation by 1/4 inch. This preparation facilitates easier installation of the splice cover components over the cable.
- Apply Silicon Grease
Apply a generous amount of silicon grease to the prepared cable insulation. This aids in sliding the components and enhances the watertight seal.
- Position Rocket and Cap
Slide the prepared rocket sleeve and cap over the cable, positioning them away from the splice area for now, ready for final assembly.
- Install Electrical Connector
Install the appropriate electrical connector to join the cable conductors. Ensure a secure and proper connection according to connector manufacturer specifications.
- Seal and Assemble Housing
Apply silicone sealant to the open edge of the rocket sleeve. Carefully slide the two halves of the Flood Seal Housing together, ensuring it is centered precisely over the installed electrical connection to create a complete and watertight seal.
