- Select the Correct Cut-Off Ring
Select the appropriate cut-off ring on the rocket sleeve and cap based on the cable size being used. The document indicates ranges like #14 to #8, #8 to #4, and #4 to 1/0.
- Prepare the Splice Cover
Cut off the rocket sleeve and cap at the tip of the arrow, ensuring that the correct cable size is visible on the opened rocket and cap after the cut.
- Prepare Cable Insulation
Bevel or pencil the cable insulation by 1/4 inch. This preparation facilitates easier installation of the splice cover.
- Apply Grease and Position Cover
Apply silicone grease to the prepared cable. Then, slide the cut rocket sleeve and cap over the prepared cable, positioning it correctly for the splice.
- Install the Electrical Connector
Install the appropriate electrical connector to join the cable conductors. Ensure the connection is secure and properly made according to connector specifications.
- Seal the Splice Cover
Apply silicone to the open edge of the rocket sleeve. Carefully slide the two halves of the Flood Seal Housing together, centering it precisely over the installed electrical connection to create a watertight seal.
