Estimated time: 15m

Tools needed:

Torx wrench (supplied), Clean brush, Soft, lint-free cloth

Supplies needed:

Ferrules (26-1/0 AWG), Stripped wire, SAE No. 20 motor oil

  1. Install the Appropriate Die Set

Remove the existing die screws from the tool frame using the supplied torx wrench. Select the correct die set that matches your wire gauge. Insert the chosen die set into the frame, ensuring the rear side faces the main axle. Loosely install the die set screws, then close the handles slightly to confirm proper alignment of the die halves. Finally, tighten the die screws securely with the torx wrench.

  2. Crimp Ferrules with the Tool

Open the tool handles fully. Position the ferrule into the proper nest of the die set. Close the handles slightly to secure the ferrule without deforming it. Insert the stripped wire completely into the ferrule. Close the handles firmly until the SHURE STAKE® mechanism cycle has been fully completed. For larger wire combinations, use the CRIMP ASSIST® foot against a flat work surface for increased leverage. WARNING: Handles are non-insulating; do not crimp on hot energized wires. Keep all body parts away from the die nest during crimping.

  3. Perform Routine Tool Maintenance

Regularly clean the tool by removing dust, moisture, and other contaminants using a clean brush or a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid using the tool on objects that could cause damage. Apply a thin coat of SAE No. 20 motor oil to all pins, pivot points, and bearing surfaces, but do not over-oil. When not in use, keep the handles closed to prevent foreign objects from lodging in the dies. Store the tool in a cool, dry area.
