This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Carlon E9761BR Brass Floor Box, including mounting, wiring, and final setup.
Estimated time: 1h
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Saw, Wire strippers, Multimeter
Supplies needed:
#8 x 1 1/8” pan head screws, Grounding lug, Duct tape, Activation Kit E976AK2
- Prepare the installation area
Determine the type and thickness of the floor covering to be used. Mark a line 3/16" below the desired final installed height of the Brass Cover's top surface.
- Cut the floor box
Using a saw, cut off the box at the marked height. Ensure that if 1 1/2" or more is removed, the larger section of support ribs on the ends of the box is also removed if necessary.
- Mount the yoke
Align the yoke provided in the Activation Kit with the slots in the floor box and move it to the desired level. Secure it using the #8 x 1 1/8" pan head screws provided.
- Attach the cover
Position the Brass Cover over the floor box and insert the #8 x 1 1/8" pan head screws into the angled holes at the ends of the cover. Tighten the screws to secure the cover to the floor box.
- Wire the electrical device
Attach conductors to the electrical device (e.g., Duplex, GFCI) using the grounding lug provided. Install the device in the yoke with the furnished screws.
- Final checks and calibration
Verify all connections are secure and check for proper operation using a multimeter. Ensure that the installation complies with local electrical codes.
