Overview

ABB Kopr-Shield Joint Compound (SKU: CP128) is a 1-gallon container of electrically conductive, corrosion-resistant compound designed for electrical connections. This homogenized blend of colloidal copper and rust inhibitors ensures complete protection and lubrication for cable joints, splices, and terminations. The compound flows smoothly to seal and protect connections, maintaining low resistance while sealing out air and moisture. Kopr-Shield remains stable across a wide temperature range from -50°F to 250°F (-45°C to 121°C) and can withstand short periods up to 1,800°F (982°C). It prevents corrosion on battery lugs and cables, improves grounding continuity in raceways, and prevents oxidation and hot spots on fuse clips. Additionally, it prevents galling and arcing on wiping contacts, drum switches, and slip rings. The compound is suitable for use on electrical cables in connector assemblies, bus bars rated for NEC applications up to 8kV and 90°C, and threads of steel conduit. It conforms to MIL-PRF-907E specifications and is not recommended for food or beverage processing applications.
