This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the AFM-FAS-B Floor Box, including mounting, wiring, and initial setup.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter
Supplies needed:
Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Conduit fittings
- Position the Floor Box
Orient the AFM-FAS-B Floor Box so that the knock-out plates align with the conduit space of the raised floor panel. Ensure the retainer clips are flush against the side of the floor box.
- Secure the Floor Box
Ensure all four mounting tabs are flat against the top surface of the raised floor panel. Use a screwdriver to tighten the screws on the retainer clips clockwise to secure the floor box in place.
- Remove Knock-Out Plates
Remove the 1/2 K.O. Plate or 10-Pin Modular Connector Plate from inside the floor box by unscrewing and lifting it out. If necessary, remove the knockouts from the plate to allow for conduit installation.
- Connect Electrical Wires
Connect the electrical wires to the device(s) and mount them to the appropriate device panel. If adding an additional device, remove the device knockout.
- Install Voltage-Divider (if applicable)
If using both electrical and data connections, install the voltage-divider in the marked location of the floor box. Ensure the back edge of the voltage-divider is against the inside vertical wall of the box.
- Use Wire Tunnel (if applicable)
If extending power to another device panel, remove the knockouts for the wire tunnel from the device panels. Place electrical wires under the wire tunnel and secure them in place using the device panels.
- Create Opening in Finished Floor
Create an opening in the finished floor measuring 10-1/2” x 11-3/4”. For wood or tile floors, notch out around the four mounting tabs for easy removal of the floor box.
- Install Floor Box Cover
Install the AFM-FAS Series Cover over the floor box to complete the installation.
