This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and wiring the DuraGard® connector for industrial applications.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Torque Wrench, Screwdrivers, Wire Strippers, Ohmmeter
Supplies needed:
Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Conduit adapter
- Prepare the installation area
Turn off all power to the installation area to prevent electrical shock. Ensure that you have the necessary tools and supplies ready.
- Disassemble the connector
Remove the gland nut, seal, conduit adapter, liner, and interior from the connector. Use a small screwdriver to separate the interior from the housing if necessary.
- Install the conduit adapter
Insert the conduit adapter into the gland nut and thread it onto the liquid tight conduit connector. Tighten the conduit adapter to a minimum torque of 50 IN/LB using channel lock pliers.
- Prepare and connect the wires
Slide the seal and liner over the supply wires. Strip 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 inches of wire insulation and insert the stripped ends into the contacts according to your established wiring pattern. Tighten the pressure screws to the specified torque.
- Reassemble the connector
Reassemble the interior into the housing, ensuring that the tabs align with the notches. Thread the gland nut onto the housing, ensuring only the gland nut turns, and tighten it to 40-80 IN/LB.
- Perform electrical tests
Before connecting to power, use an ohmmeter to check continuity and verify correct phasing and grounding connections. Ensure there are no short circuits or unwanted grounds.
- Power on and test the system
Once all tests are completed successfully, connect the system to power and perform a final test to ensure proper operation.
