Overview

The ABB SPHDOS08 is a Hi-Break rated drawout substructure designed for ABB Power Break™ II breakers and switches, engineered for a 4000 Ampere frame rating. This heavy-duty assembly simplifies breaker inspection and maintenance without de-energizing the main bus structure, reducing downtime and improving operational efficiency. The substructure features pre-drilled holes for bolting shelves or supports, and integrated holes in the primary stabs for direct bolting to busbars or terminal lugs, ensuring secure and stable installations. Optimized for use with Power Break™ II Hi-Break switches, the SPHDOS08 accommodates up to 72 control circuits via 36-position plug-style secondary disconnect blocks, factory-mounted for plug-and-play connectivity. Control wiring is managed through draw-out secondary disconnects in the "TEST" and "CONNECTED" positions, enabling safe and efficient maintenance procedures. A minimum of one SPDOSD36S substructure secondary disconnect is required per breaker when accessories or communications are utilized. If auxiliary switches are employed alongside other electrical accessories or communications, two secondary disconnects must be ordered. Optional accessories such as dead-front shutters (model SPDSS40 for 4000A) and by-pass switches enhance safety and operational flexibility, making the SPHDOS08 a versatile solution for electrical distribution systems. The substructure includes a racking mechanism drive, wheels, primary and secondary disconnects, and cooperating interlock systems for reliable operation. Manufactured in the USA by ABB - Electrification, the SPHDOS08 is built to meet the demands of high-performance electrical distribution applications. SKU: SPHDOS08.
