How to Install the Vortex A/C Model VA5016012

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and configuring the Vortex A/C Model VA5016012 on a UL Type 12 enclosure.

Estimated time: 45m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter, Wrench

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Vinyl tubing, Muffler mounting clamps, Self-adhesive tubing clips, Compressed air filter (model VAAF50)

  1. Mount the Vortex A/C

Position the Vortex A/C on the top or side of the enclosure, ensuring sufficient clearance for internal thermostats and cold air outlets. Cut two 1-15/16” diameter holes in the enclosure, insert the unit, and secure it with the provided electrical locknuts.

  2. Install Cold Air Mufflers

Determine suitable locations for the Cold Air Mufflers inside the enclosure, clean the surfaces, and attach the Muffler Mounting Clamps using double-sided tape or screws. Snap the Cold Air Mufflers into the clamps.

  3. Connect Cold Air Ducting

Cut lengths of the supplied vinyl tubing to connect the cold air outlets of the Vortex A/C to the hose barbs on the Cold Air Mufflers. Ensure the tubing is free of sharp bends and kinks.

  4. Install Compressed Air Filter

Connect the compressed air filter model VAAF50 to the inlet of the Vortex A/C using a short length of 3/8” pipe and a reducer bushing. Ensure the filter is positioned in a location where the temperature does not exceed 125°F (52°C).

  5. Connect Compressed Air Supply

Attach the compressed air supply to the inlet of the air filter, ensuring that the air flow direction is correct as indicated on the filter.

  6. Verify Installation

Check all connections for leaks and ensure that the Vortex A/C is securely mounted. Test the operation by applying compressed air and monitoring the cooling performance.
