How to Install the Vortex A/C VA151604X

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Vortex A/C VA151604X on an enclosure, ensuring proper cooling for industrial control cabinets.

Estimated time: 45m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Wrench, Drill, Wire strippers

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Vinyl tubing, Muffler mounting clamp, Electrical locknut, Compressed air filter

  1. Position the Vortex A/C

Select a suitable location on the top or side of the enclosure, ensuring sufficient clearance for the thermostat and cold air outlet. The entire mounting footprint must be supported.

  2. Cut the mounting hole

Drill a 1-15/16” (49 mm) diameter hole in the selected location on the enclosure. Deburr any sharp edges around the hole.

  3. Install the Vortex A/C

Remove the electrical locknut from the Vortex A/C and insert the threaded portion into the hole. From inside the enclosure, screw the locknut onto the threads and tighten securely to compress the sealing gasket.

  4. Mount the Cold Air Muffler

Determine a location for the Cold Air Muffler inside the enclosure, clean the surface, and attach the Muffler Mounting Clamp using double-sided tape or screws.

  5. Connect the cold air tubing

Cut a length of the supplied vinyl tubing and connect it from the cold air outlet of the Vortex A/C to the Cold Air Muffler. Ensure the tubing is free of sharp bends.

  6. Install the compressed air filter

Connect the compressed air filter to the inlet of the Vortex A/C using a length of 3/8” pipe. Ensure the filter is located where the temperature does not exceed 125°F (52°C).

  7. Connect the compressed air supply

Attach the compressed air supply to the inlet of the air filter, ensuring that the air supply is filtered and free of oil.
