How to Install nVent ClimaGuard TX23, TX33, TX38, TX52 Series Air-to-Air Heat Exchangers
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation and initial power connection of nVent ClimaGuard TX23, TX33, TX38, and TX52 Series Air-to-Air Heat Exchangers, including pre-mounting testing and enclosure preparation.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers
Supplies needed:
Gaskets, Mounting screws, Copper conductors
- Inspect and Pre-Test the Heat Exchanger
Upon receipt, inspect the heat exchanger for any concealed damage that may have occurred during shipment. Before mounting, connect the unit to a properly grounded power supply, referring to the nameplate for electrical current requirements. Use copper conductors only and ensure power supply wiring is restrained to prevent contact with internal fans. Operate the heat exchanger for several minutes to verify functionality, checking for excessive noise or vibration. Minimum circuit ampacity should be at least 125% of the amperage shown on the nameplate, and no other equipment should be connected to this circuit to prevent overloading.
- Prepare the Enclosure Opening
Determine if the heat exchanger will be surface or recess mounted. Refer to the appropriate mounting cutout dimensions provided in this manual (e.g., TX23 Mounting Cutout Dimensions on page 5) and prepare the enclosure opening accordingly.
- Install Gaskets
Using the gasket kit provided with the unit, carefully install the gaskets onto the heat exchanger to ensure a proper seal.
- Mount the Heat Exchanger
Mount the heat exchanger onto the prepared enclosure opening using the provided mounting screws. Torque the screws to 25 in-lbs (2.82 Nm) to ensure a secure and stable attachment to the enclosure.
- Connect to Permanent Power Supply
Refer to the unit nameplate for final electrical requirements. Connect the power cord or wire the unit to a properly grounded power supply using copper conductors. Do not use an extension cord. Ensure the electrical circuit is protected with a slow blow or HACR circuit breaker for safety and proper operation.
