How to Install the TFP102 Side-Mount Filter Fan

Installation guide for mounting and wiring the TFP102 side-mount filter fan. Ensure proper airflow direction and electrical safety during installation.

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Grounding wire

  1. Verify Product Suitability

    Check the ratings on the fan label to ensure the product is suitable for your application. Note that different catalog numbers operate on different voltages (115 VAC or 230 VAC). Refer to the nameplate or datasheet for specific voltage requirements.

  2. Disconnect Power

    WARNING: To avoid electric shock and equipment damage, disconnect all power supplies to the enclosure before proceeding with installation.

  3. Determine Mounting Location

    Choose a location on the vertical side of the enclosure, considering available space and desired airflow. Ensure clearance for electrical panels and mounting studs. Do not install on top of the enclosure.

  4. Prepare Enclosure Cutout

    Make the proper size cutout in the enclosure for the fan package. Refer to the provided hole patterns and tables for dimensions.

  5. Ground the Fan Housing

    If electrical grounding is required, use the provided green grounding screw to connect a suitably sized grounding wire (not supplied) to the fan grounding pad, following N.E.C. standards.

  6. Establish Airflow Direction

    Identify the airflow direction through the fan by observing the arrows on the fan housing. Ensure the airflow is in the correct direction for Type 12 rating.

  7. Mount Fan to Plenum

    Mount the fan to the plenum using the supplied thread-cutting screws. For models TFP41UL12 and TFP42UL12, mount the steel wire finger guard to the fan using supplied screws.

  8. Position Fan Package in Enclosure

    Insert the assembled fan package into the enclosure cutout, ensuring the gasket is properly positioned between the plenum and the enclosure wall.

  9. Secure Fan Package

    Fasten the fan package in place using the supplied screws, lockwashers, and nuts.

  10. Install Filter and Grille

    For models TFP61UL12, TFP62UL12, TFP101UL12, and TFP102UL12, snap the finger guard in place and insert the filter over it. For models TFP41UL12 and TFP42UL12, insert the filter into the plenum. Insert the filter with the white fabric side facing into the enclosure and the foam side facing out. Snap the grille over the fan package.

  11. Wire the Fan

    Connect the two fan lead wires to the proper voltage power source according to applicable local codes and ordinances. Ensure all fan wires are strain relieved with tension clips.

  12. Final Checks

    Verify that all internal and external electrical and mechanical clearances are checked to assure safe and proper operation. Do not energize any circuits until all checks are complete.
