Overview

The nVent SPD2008 separation plate is a high-performance zinc-plated steel component engineered to divide bayed MCS and MCD enclosures into distinct, compartmentalized spaces while preserving the enclosure’s IP rating. Designed for industrial and commercial electrical installations, this 2000x13x800mm plate provides a robust barrier that enhances safety, organization, and compliance in complex electrical systems. Manufactured by nVent, a global leader in electrical and thermal management solutions, the SPD2008 ensures reliable performance in demanding environments where space optimization and component isolation are critical. Primary Function and Design Benefits The SPD2008 separation plate serves as a physical divider within multi-bay electrical enclosures, effectively separating mounted components into individual zones. This compartmentalization is essential for preventing electrical interference, reducing the risk of arc faults, and simplifying maintenance by isolating high-voltage or sensitive equipment. The zinc-plated steel construction delivers superior durability and corrosion resistance, making it suitable for use in harsh industrial settings, including manufacturing plants, data centers, and utility substations. Additionally, the plate’s design maintains the enclosure’s IP rating, ensuring that dust and moisture ingress protection remains intact even after installation. Typical Applications and Industry Use Cases The nVent SPD2008 separation plate is widely utilized in environments where electrical enclosures house multiple components that require segregation for safety or operational efficiency. Common applications include: - **Industrial Automation:** Dividing control panels in manufacturing facilities to isolate PLCs, drives, and power distribution units. - **Commercial Buildings:** Organizing electrical rooms in office complexes, hospitals, and educational institutions to separate critical systems. - **Renewable Energy:** Partitioning inverter and battery enclosures in solar and wind power installations to enhance safety and simplify wiring management. - **Utility and Grid Systems:** Segmenting switchgear and distribution panels in substations to comply with electrical codes and reduce fault propagation. - **Telecommunications:** Creating dedicated zones within server and network cabinets to protect sensitive electronics from electromagnetic interference. Installation and Compatibility Installing the SPD2008 separation plate is a straightforward process that requires no specialized tools. The plate is designed to fit seamlessly into nVent’s MCS and MCD enclosures, which are engineered for modularity and scalability. Professionals typically secure the plate using standard enclosure mounting hardware, ensuring a snug fit that eliminates gaps and maintains structural integrity. When selecting a separation plate, engineers and contractors should consider factors such as enclosure dimensions, load requirements, and environmental conditions. The zinc-plated finish of the SPD2008 provides an additional layer of protection against corrosion, extending the plate’s lifespan in outdoor or high-humidity environments. Why Choose nVent for Separation Plates? nVent is a trusted name in the electrical and thermal management industry, known for delivering high-quality, innovative solutions that meet the rigorous demands of modern infrastructure. With a global presence and a commitment to sustainability, nVent’s products are designed to enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability across a wide range of applications. The SPD2008 separation plate exemplifies this dedication, offering a cost-effective solution for professionals seeking to optimize their electrical enclosures without compromising performance or compliance. Whether used in new installations or retrofits, the SPD2008 ensures that electrical systems remain organized, safe, and fully protected against environmental challenges.
  • Description: Separates two bayed MCS/MCD enclosures.
  • Material: 1.5 mm zinc plated steel.
  • Mounting requirements: IP 43 and TYPE 1 sealing can be obtained by using SPDG gasket. CCJ brackets are required to mount the SPD into the enclosures. To bay enclosures together, use CCM and CCI brackets. For EMI shielding the SPDEG gasket must be used.
  • Pack quantity: 1 piece.
  • Benefit: these areas are commonly used to group component types, for example power in one section and control in another
  • Benefit: these spaces can also be used when some components are more sensitive to temperature than others, allowing better control of the enclosure's thermal management
  • Comment: separation brackets, CCJ, are required in order to mount the separation plate; if the separation plate is mounted within an enclosure assembly, the internal corner baying kit, CCM, and external baying brackets, CCI, should be used
  • Mounting the separation gasket, SPDG, will increase the protection degree on either side of the plate to IP 43; the separation plate cannot be mounted within stainless steel enclosures
  • Mounting requirements: IP 43, TYPE 1 sealing can be obtained by using SPDG gasket and CCJ brackets are required to mount the SPD into the enclosures
  • Mounting requirements: to bay enclosures together, use CCM and CCI brackets. For EMI shielding the SPDEG gasket must be used
