How to Install and Configure QUICK TRAY PRO™ Cable Tray
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for modifying and connecting QUICK TRAY PRO™ Cable Tray sections to create custom cable management installations, including cutting, bending, and joining various configurations.
Estimated time: 2h
Tools needed:
Side action bolt cutter
Supplies needed:
QUICK TRAY PRO™ Cable Tray sections, QTPBNWK Splice Kit, QTPSSW3 Splice Washer, QTPUS10 Universal Splice Bar, QTP90TKIT T-Connection or 90o Splice Bar
- Cut Cable Tray Sections
Use the Hoffman side action bolt cutter to make precision cuts on the QUICK TRAY PRO™ Cable Tray. First, identify the wires to be cut based on your desired configuration. Position the cutting jaws on the cradle wire, making an angled cut away from the new end for all side wires. Then, turn the tray over and cut the bottom wires from the underside, ensuring the cutting jaws rest on the cradle wire and cuts are angled away from the new end. Make clean cuts to avoid grinding or touch-up.
- Form a 90-Degree Bend
At the desired bend location, cut all side wires according to the specific cutting pattern for your tray size. Turn the tray onto its uncut side and smoothly bend the tray upwards until the inside edges closest to the uncut side meet. Secure the bend by fastening it with QTPBNWK Splice Kits and QTPSSW3 Splice Washers, ensuring they are indicated for your tray width.
- Join Tray Sections
Align the QUICK TRAY PRO™ Cable Tray sections you wish to connect. Use QTPBNWK Splice Kits and QTPSSW3 Splice Washers to securely bolt the sections together. For enhanced support and stability, especially when connecting tray sides or forming complex junctions like tees or elbows, attach QTPUS10 Universal Splice Bars or QTP90TKIT T-Connection/90-degree Splice Bars, fastening them with additional Splice Kits and Washers as needed.
- Install Cable Tray Supports
Install supports for straight sections at typical 6-foot (1.5m) centers. Ensure supports are placed within 24 inches (610mm) of any splice on straight sections, and the span between supports does not exceed the length of the tray section. Provide additional supports around bends and wherever the cable tray level changes to maintain stability and integrity of the installation.
