How to Reduce QUICK TRAY PRO Cable Tray Width with QTPUS10
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for reducing the width of QUICK TRAY PRO Cable Tray sections using the QTPUS10 Universal Splice Bar to connect to smaller trays.
Estimated time: 30m
Tools needed:
Hoffman Side Action Bolt Cutter, Wrench
Supplies needed:
QUICK TRAY PRO Cable Tray, QTPUS10 Universal Splice Bar, QTPBNWK Splice Kit, QTPSSW3 Splice Washer
- Cut Tray Wires for Width Reduction
Determine the desired width reduction (four or eight inches). Using the Hoffman side action bolt cutter, cut the side and bottom wires of the QUICK TRAY PRO Cable Tray sections as indicated by the relevant cutting guides to achieve the specified reduction. Ensure to use the specified bolt cutter to minimize sharp edges and protect against corrosion.
- Connect Uncut Tray Sides with Splice Bar
Align the uncut sides of the two tray sections. Securely connect these sides using a QTPUS10 Universal Splice Bar. Fasten the splice bar to the tray using QTPBNWK Splice Kits (three-piece staked bolt, washer, and nut) and QTPSSW3 Splice Washers.
- Secure Reduced Width with Additional Splice Bars
Bend the previously cut wires of each tray section to form the new, reduced width. Use additional QTPUS10 Universal Splice Bars, fastened with QTPBNWK Splice Kits and QTPSSW3 Splice Washers, on each pair of bent tray wires to firmly secure the reduced width configuration.
