Ladder Rack, Straight Section, Bulletin DCR (Ladder Tray - Ladder Tray and Fittiings - 12"), Size/Dims: 12.00x120.00, Material: Steel, Finish: BlackHow to Prepare and Connect QUICK TRAY PRO™ Cable Tray Sections
This guide provides instructions for cutting, bending, and joining QUICK TRAY PRO™ cable tray sections to create a customized cable management system for efficient cable routing.
Estimated time: 2h
Tools needed:
Hoffman Side Action Bolt Cutter (QTPBC)
Supplies needed:
QUICK TRAY PRO Splice Kit (QTPBNWK/QTPBNWKBLK), QUICK TRAY PRO Splice Washer (QTPSSW3/QTPSSW3BLK), QUICK TRAY PRO Universal Splice Bar (QTPUS10/QTPUS10BLK), QUICK TRAY PRO 90-degree/T-Connection Splice Bar (QTP90TKIT/QTP90TKITBLK)
- Plan Your Cable Tray Layout
Before beginning, determine the desired configuration of your cable tray system, including all straight runs, bends, tees, and level changes. Review the specific cutting patterns in the manual for each required modification to ensure proper planning.
- Cut Cable Tray Sections to Size
Use the Hoffman side action bolt cutter (QTPBC) to make precise cuts. For side wires, position the cutting jaws on the cradle wire and cut at an angle away from the new end. For bottom wires, turn the tray over, rest the cutting jaws on the cradle wire, and cut at an angle away from the new end. Ensure one clean cut to eliminate grinding or touch-up and minimize sharp edges.
- Create a 90-Degree Bend
At the desired bend location, cut all side wires according to the specific pattern for your tray width. Turn the tray on the uncut side and smoothly bend it until the inside edges closest to the uncut side meet. Secure the bend using QTPBNWK/QTPBNWKBLK Splice Kits and QTPSSW3/QTPSSW3BLK Splice Washers at the indicated locations for your tray width.
- Connect Tray Sections
Align the ends of two tray sections to be joined. Use QTPBNWK/QTPBNWKBLK Splice Kits and QTPSSW3/QTPSSW3BLK Splice Washers to fasten the sections together. For additional support or specific connections like elbows or tees, utilize QTPUS10/QTPUS10BLK Universal Splice Bars or QTP90TKIT/QTP90TKITBLK T-Connection/90-degree Splice Bars as required, securing them with splice kits and washers.
- Support the Cable Tray System
Install supports for straight sections at approximately 6-foot (1.5m) centers. Ensure supports are placed within 24 inches (610mm) of any splice on straight sections. Provide additional supports around bends and wherever the cable tray level changes to maintain stability and load bearing capacity according to local codes and specifications.
