How to Assemble and Modify QUICK TRAY PRO™ Cable Tray
This guide provides instructions for safely cutting, bending, and connecting sections of QUICK TRAY PRO™ Cable Tray to create custom cable management installations, minimizing sharp edges and ensuring proper assembly.
Estimated time: 1h
Tools needed:
QTPBC Side Action Bolt Cutter, Wrench or Socket Wrench
Supplies needed:
QUICK TRAY PRO™ Cable Tray sections, QTPBNWK Splice Kit, QTPSSW3 Splice Washer, QTPUS10 Universal Splice Bar (optional)
- Cut QUICK TRAY PRO™ Cable Tray Sections
Always use the Hoffman side action bolt cutter to ensure precision cuts and minimize sharp edges. First, decide which wires must be cut, reviewing specific cutting patterns for desired bends if applicable. Position the cutting jaws on the cradle wire for the top side wire and make the cut at an angle away from the new end. Repeat this process for all remaining side wires, ensuring one clean cut to eliminate grinding or touch-up. Turn the tray over and cut the bottom wires from the underside, always resting the cutting jaws on the cradle wire and cutting at an angle away from the new end.
- Form a 90-Degree Bend
At the desired bend location, cut the side and bottom wires according to the specific cutting pattern provided for your tray width. Turn the tray on the uncut side and smoothly bend the tray up until the inside edges closest to the uncut side meet. Secure the bend by fastening at the indicated locations with QTPBNWK/QTPBNWKBLK Splice Kits and QTPSSW3/QTPSSW3BLK Splice Washers, ensuring they are appropriate for the tray width.
- Join Cable Tray Sections
To connect two sections of QUICK TRAY PRO™ Cable Tray, align the ends of the sections to be joined. Use QTPBNWK/QTPBNWKBLK Splice Kits and QTPSSW3/QTPSSW3BLK Splice Washers to bolt the sections together. For additional support and stability, especially on tray sides or when connecting different tray sizes, utilize QTPUS10/QTPUS10BLK Universal Splice Bars. These splice bars can be cut to fit and bent for use in various configurations, and are fastened with splice kits and washers.
