How to Utilize the QTP90TKIT for QUICK TRAY PRO Cable Tray Connections
This guide details the process of using the QTP90TKIT (T-Connection or 90-degree Splice Bar) to create secure 90-degree bends or tee connections in QUICK TRAY PRO cable tray systems.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Hoffman Side Action Bolt Cutter, Wrench
Supplies needed:
QUICK TRAY PRO Cable Tray sections, QTP90TKIT (T-Connection or 90-degree Splice Bar), QTPBNWK or QTPBNWKBLK Splice Kits, QTPSSW3 or QTPSSW3BLK Splice Washers
- Determine Connection Type and Prepare Tray Sections
Decide whether you are creating a 90-degree bend or a 90-degree tee. For a 90-degree bend, refer to the "Creating a 90o Bend" section (page 5) and cut the necessary side and bottom wires from one tray section using the Hoffman side action bolt cutter. For a 90-degree tee, refer to the "Creating a 90o Tee" section (page 9) and cut the side wires from the tray section forming the top of the tee. Always rest the cutting jaws on the cradle wire and cut at an angle away from the new end to minimize sharp edges and protect from corrosion.
- Form the Connection and Position QTP90TKIT
For a 90-degree Bend: Turn the prepared tray section on its uncut side and smoothly bend it until the inside edges meet, forming the 90-degree angle. Position the QTP90TKIT (90-degree Splice Bar) along the outside of the bend to provide structural support. For a 90-degree Tee: Align the two prepared QUICK TRAY PRO cable tray sections to form the 90-degree tee configuration. Position the QTP90TKIT (T-Connection Splice Bar) to bridge the connection point, typically on the outside or underside depending on the specific tee configuration.
- Secure the Connection with Splice Hardware
Fasten the QTP90TKIT and the tray sections together using QTPBNWK/QTPBNWKBLK Splice Kits and QTPSSW3/QTPSSW3BLK Splice Washers. For a 90-degree bend, use the specified number of splice kits and washers to secure the bend. For a 90-degree tee, use two splice kits and washers for each joint. Tighten all bolts securely with a wrench to ensure a stable and robust connection.
