Overview

The nVent PFAL1064 aluminium plinth (100x600x400mm, RAL7035) is a robust, space-efficient solution designed to elevate and protect electrical enclosures while providing unobstructed cable routing beneath. Engineered for durability and ease of installation, this plinth eliminates cable routing restrictions, ensuring compliance with industrial wiring standards and reducing clutter in control panels, switchgear, and automation cabinets. Its corrosion-resistant aluminium construction and neutral grey finish (RAL7035) make it ideal for harsh environments, including manufacturing plants, data centers, and utility installations where reliability and longevity are critical. Key features of the PFAL1064 include a compact 100mm height, which maximizes floor space while accommodating ample cable volume, and a 600x400mm footprint that supports a wide range of enclosure sizes. The open-bottom design allows for seamless integration with existing infrastructure, enabling technicians to pull cables without dismantling the enclosure or disrupting adjacent systems. This design flexibility is particularly valuable in retrofitting projects, where space constraints and existing layouts often complicate upgrades. The plinth’s aluminium construction delivers exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, ensuring stability under heavy enclosures while resisting deformation from mechanical stress or environmental factors. Its RAL7035 finish provides a professional appearance and resists fading, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications where aesthetic consistency matters. nVent’s reputation for high-performance electrical solutions further enhances the PFAL1064’s reliability, as the manufacturer’s products are trusted across industries such as oil and gas, renewable energy, and transportation infrastructure. Installation is straightforward, with pre-drilled mounting holes and compatibility with standard enclosure feet, ensuring compatibility with nVent’s and third-party enclosures. The plinth’s modular design allows for easy extension or reconfiguration, making it a future-proof choice for evolving industrial setups. Whether used in a cleanroom environment, a factory floor, or a remote substation, the PFAL1064 delivers consistent performance by maintaining cable organization, reducing tripping hazards, and simplifying maintenance access. For professionals seeking a cost-effective, high-quality plinth that enhances both functionality and safety, the nVent PFAL1064 stands out as a premier choice. Its combination of durability, ease of use, and manufacturer-backed reliability makes it an essential component for modern electrical installations where efficiency and compliance are non-negotiable.

How to Demount the Front PFAL Plinth

A guide for safely demounting the front plinth of the PFAL unit while the EKOM module is installed, detailing fastener removal and torque specifications.

Estimated time: 15m

Tools needed:

SW8 socket wrench, T30 Torx wrench, Torque wrench

Supplies needed:

Container for removed fasteners, Cleaning cloth

  1. Identify Fasteners for Demounting

Locate the 2 M6x16 fasteners (B) and 4 M10x25 fasteners (A) that secure the front PFAL plinth. Also, identify the 4 M10 components (C) associated with fasteners A. Ensure the EKOM module is installed as per the documentation context.

  2. Remove M6x16 Fasteners

Using an appropriate wrench (e.g., SW8 socket wrench), carefully loosen and remove the 2 M6x16 fasteners (B). The original torque for these fasteners is specified as 8-10 Nm. Place the removed fasteners in a designated container for safekeeping.

  3. Remove M10x25 Fasteners and M10 Components

Next, using an appropriate wrench (e.g., T30 Torx wrench), loosen and remove the 4 M10x25 fasteners (A). The original torque for these fasteners is specified as 10-15 Nm. Ensure to also collect the 4 M10 components (C) that are associated with these fasteners. Store all removed components securely.

  4. Detach the Front PFAL Plinth

Once all specified fasteners (A, B) and associated components (C) are removed, carefully detach the front PFAL plinth from the unit. Handle the plinth with care to avoid damage.
