Overview

The nVent ProLine G2 100-mm Plinth Base (SKU: P2BP184) is a precision-engineered steel base designed to elevate and secure 800x400mm industrial enclosures while providing essential cable management infrastructure. Constructed from durable black powder-coated steel, this plinth base raises enclosures 100mm to improve airflow beneath the unit, enhancing cooling efficiency and reducing thermal stress on sensitive components. The base features four access panels for organized cable entry from below, minimizing clutter and improving safety compliance in demanding environments. Compatible with nVent’s ProLine G2 portfolio and third-party systems, it supports modular installations in data centers, manufacturing plants, utilities, and commercial buildings. Installation is simplified with pre-drilled mounting holes, and the base includes hardware for secure attachment to both the enclosure and floor. For extended height requirements, stacking kits are available to achieve up to 400mm total elevation.
  • Four access panels for cable management options at the base of the enclosure
  • Corner blocks can be installed onto the base of the frame independent of the cover plates, enabling the cover plates to be attached after integration and just prior to shipment
  • Stackable up to 400mm in height using Plinth Base Stacking Kit (not included)
  • 100 mm or 200 mm options
  • Installation hardware included
  • Cover plates are 16-gauge (1.5 mm) steel

How to Install the P2BP184 ProLine G2 Enclosure

Installation guide for mounting and wiring the P2BP184 ProLine G2 enclosure.

Estimated time: 1h

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Drill, Level, Measuring tape, Wire strippers, Pliers, Multimeter

Supplies needed:

Mounting hardware, Wire connectors, Gasket material (if needed)

  1. Prepare the Mounting Location

Select a suitable location for the enclosure. Ensure the mounting surface is level and can support the weight of the enclosure and its contents. Check the nameplate or datasheet for specific environmental requirements and load-bearing capacity.

  2. Mount the Enclosure

Using a level and measuring tape, mark the mounting hole locations on the prepared surface. Drill pilot holes if necessary. Secure the P2BP184 enclosure to the mounting surface using appropriate mounting hardware. Ensure the enclosure is firmly attached and plumb.

  3. Prepare for Wiring

Open the enclosure door. Identify the designated wiring entry points. If knockouts are present, remove them using a suitable tool. Install appropriate conduit fittings if required. Refer to the nameplate or datasheet for any specific wiring requirements or limitations.

  4. Install Internal Components (if applicable)

If the enclosure is to house internal components such as back panels, mounting plates, or equipment, install them now according to their respective instructions. Ensure all components are securely fastened.

  5. Perform Wiring Connections

Route the necessary power and control wiring into the enclosure through the prepared entry points. Connect the wires to the appropriate terminals or equipment inside the enclosure, following the wiring diagram provided with the internal components or in the datasheet. Use appropriate wire connectors and ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated. Verify wire gauge and type suitability based on the nameplate or datasheet.

  6. Verify Wiring and Grounding

Double-check all wiring connections for correctness and tightness. Ensure proper grounding of the enclosure and all internal metallic components according to electrical codes and the product's specifications. Use a multimeter to verify continuity and absence of shorts.

  7. Finalize and Close Enclosure

Ensure all internal wiring is neatly dressed and secured. If a gasket is used, ensure it is properly seated. Close and securely fasten the enclosure door. Apply any required sealing or locking mechanisms.
