How to Install the N431216G100 Air Conditioner

Installation guide for mounting and wiring the N431216G100 SPECTRACOOL Air Conditioner.

Estimated time: 45m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Wrench, Ratchet driver

Supplies needed:

Mounting gasket kit, Copper conductors

  1. Inspect and Test Functionality

Inspect the air conditioner for any damage that may have occurred during shipment. Test the unit's functionality before mounting it to the enclosure. Ensure the unit has been in an upright position for at least five minutes before operation if it was transported horizontally. Refer to the nameplate for electrical requirements and wire the unit to a properly grounded power supply using copper conductors only. The minimum circuit ampacity should be at least 125% of the amperage shown on the unit nameplate. Immediately after applying power, the evaporator blower should start. Operate the air conditioner with the compressor running for five to ten minutes by setting the cooling thermostat or controller setpoint below the ambient temperature. Condenser air temperatures should become warmer than normal room temperatures within a few minutes after the condenser impellers start.

  2. Mount the Air Conditioner

Install the mounting gasket to the air conditioner using the provided kit. Mount the air conditioner onto the enclosure, being careful not to damage the mounting gasket, as it forms the seal between the unit and the enclosure. Avoid dragging the unit on the enclosure with the gasket attached to prevent rips or tears. Start mounting bolts by hand to avoid cross-threading before tightening with a wrench or ratchet driver.

  3. Wire the Unit

Refer to the unit's nameplate for specific electrical requirements. Wire the unit to a properly grounded power supply. The electrical circuit should be fused with a slow-blow fuse or a HACR circuit breaker. If your air conditioner requires a remote-mounted thermostat, wire its outputs to the appropriate terminals on the 24 VAC terminal strip, following the correct wiring diagram for your specific model.

  4. Set Thermostat

Set the thermostat to the required cabinet temperature. Refer to the 'Sequence of Operation' on page 4 for details on thermostat adjustment and operation. Ensure the thermostat is not set below 70 F for normal operation to prevent coil freeze-ups and potential unit damage.
