Overview

The nVent SpectraCool Narrow Indoor/Outdoor AC (SKU: N360816G051) offers a robust cooling solution designed for demanding industrial environments where space is at a premium. Engineered by nVent, a trusted leader in enclosure thermal management, this unit delivers 8000 BTU of cooling capacity, ensuring optimal operating temperatures for sensitive electronic equipment. Its 115V power requirement makes it compatible with standard industrial power supplies. What sets the SpectraCool Narrow apart is its optimized, space-saving design. Unlike traditional, wider units, this model is specifically crafted to fit within enclosures with a shallow depth, typically 12-inch (300-mm) deep floor- and wall-mount cabinets. This makes it an ideal choice for applications where cabinet real estate is limited, such as in telecommunications, control rooms, and automated manufacturing facilities. How to Install the N360816G051 Air Conditioner

Installation guide for mounting and wiring the N360816G051 SPECTRACOOL Air Conditioner.

Estimated time: 45m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter

Supplies needed:

Mounting gasket kit, Copper conductors, Slow blow or HACR circuit breaker

  1. Inspect and Test Functionality

Inspect the air conditioner for any damage that may have occurred during shipment. Test the unit for functionality before mounting. If the unit has been in a horizontal position, ensure it is upright for at least five (5) minutes before operating. Refer to the nameplate for electrical requirements and wire the unit to a properly grounded power supply using copper conductors only. Ensure the minimum circuit ampacity is at least 125% of the amperage shown on the unit nameplate. Immediately after applying power, the evaporator blower should start. Operate the unit with the compressor running for five to ten minutes by setting the cooling thermostat or controller setpoint below the ambient temperature. Condenser air temperatures should become warmer than normal room temperatures within a few minutes after the condenser impellers start.

  2. Mount the Air Conditioner

Install the mounting gasket kit to the air conditioner. Mount the air conditioner onto the enclosure, taking care not to damage the mounting gasket, as it forms the seal between the unit and the enclosure. Avoid dragging the unit on the enclosure with the gasket attached to prevent rips or tears.

  3. Wire the Unit

Refer to the nameplate for specific electrical requirements. Wire the unit to a properly grounded power supply using copper conductors. The electrical circuit should be fused with a slow blow or HACR circuit breaker. Ensure no other equipment is connected to this circuit to prevent overloading. If the unit requires a remote-mounted thermostat, wire the thermostat outputs to the appropriate terminals on the 24 VAC terminal strip according to the correct wiring diagram.

  4. Set Thermostat

Set the thermostat for the required cabinet temperature. Refer to the 'Sequence of Operation' section for details on thermostat adjustment and operation. For testing purposes only, the thermostat stop screw may be removed to allow settings below 70 F, but it must be replaced and verified afterward to prevent coil freeze-ups.

  5. Verify Operation

Ensure the air conditioner is in an upright position during operation. Verify that the evaporator fan starts immediately after power is applied and that the condenser air temperatures increase within a few minutes of the condenser impellers starting.
