How to Install the N280416G800 Air Conditioner

Installation guide for mounting and wiring the N280416G800 air conditioner. Ensure the unit is properly installed and functional before final mounting.

Estimated time: 45m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Wrench, Ratchet driver, Wire strippers, Multimeter

Supplies needed:

Mounting gasket kit, Copper conductors, Slow blow or HACR circuit breaker

  1. Inspect and test the air conditioner

Inspect the air conditioner for any damage that may have occurred during shipment. Test the unit for functionality before mounting. Ensure the unit has been in an upright position for at least five minutes if it was transported horizontally. Refer to the nameplate for electrical requirements and wire to a properly grounded power supply using copper conductors only. The minimum circuit ampacity should be at least 125% of the amperage shown on the unit nameplate. Immediately after applying power, the evaporator blower should start. Operate the unit with the compressor running for 5-10 minutes by setting the cooling thermostat or controller setpoint below the ambient temperature. Condenser air temperatures should become warmer than room temperatures within a few minutes after the condenser impellers start.

  2. Prepare for mounting

Install the provided mounting gasket kit to the air conditioner. Ensure the gasket is properly seated to create a watertight seal between the air conditioner and the enclosure.

  3. Mount the air conditioner

Mount the air conditioner onto the enclosure, taking care not to damage the mounting gasket. Start mounting bolts by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten with a wrench or ratchet driver. Ensure the unit remains in an upright position during operation.

  4. Wire the air conditioner

Refer to the unit's nameplate for specific electrical requirements. Wire the unit to a properly grounded power supply using copper conductors. The electrical circuit should be fused with a slow blow or HACR circuit breaker. If your unit requires a remote-mounted thermostat, wire the thermostat outputs to the appropriate terminals on the 24 VAC terminal strip according to the correct wiring diagram.

  5. Set the thermostat

Set the thermostat for the required cabinet temperature. Refer to the 'Sequence of Operation' section for details on thermostat adjustment and operation. Do not set the enclosure thermostat to a temperature lower than 70 F, as this can cause coil freeze-ups.
