How to Assemble an MCS-3R Floor Standing Enclosure

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for assembling the various components of an MCS-3R floor standing enclosure, including panels, doors, and handles, ensuring proper torque for all fasteners.

Estimated time: 1h 30m

Tools needed:

T30 Torx screwdriver, T25 Torx screwdriver, SW13 Wrench/Socket, SW10 Wrench/Socket, SW3 Wrench/Socket, SW19 Wrench/Socket, Torque wrench

Supplies needed:

M5x10 screws, M6x12 screws, M12x20 screws, M8x16 screws, St. 5.5x10 screws, Metal Guider, BG01 Sealing Kit (for IP55, ordered separately), Floor plate (if mounting on combustible surface)

  1. Prepare the Mounting Surface and Enclosure Components

If mounting on or over a combustible surface, install a floor plate of at least 1.43 mm galvanized or 1.6 mm uncoated steel, extending at least 150 mm beyond the equipment on all sides. To maintain the enclosure's environmental integrity, use devices with the same environmental ratings to close any customized openings. Gather all necessary enclosure components, screws, and tools.

  2. Assemble the Enclosure Frame (Initial)

Attach the first set of frame components (parts 1 and 2) using M5x10 screws. Tighten to a torque of 4-5.5 Nm. Attach the second set of frame components (parts 3 and 4) using M5x10 screws. Tighten to a torque of 4-5.5 Nm. Install the Metal Guider using M5x10 screws, tightening to a torque of 4-5.5 Nm.

  3. Mount the Lift Handle Locking System

Attach the lift handle locking system (part 1) to the door (part 2) using a T30 Torx screwdriver. Rotate the cam (part 3) 180 degrees. Secure part 4 of the lift handle mechanism.

  4. Install the Standard Locking System (if applicable)

Attach the locking system components using M6x12 screws. Tighten to a torque of 15-20 Nm. Attach additional locking components using M12x20 screws. For the first tightening, apply a torque of 8-9 Nm. For subsequent tightenings, apply 4-5 Nm.

  5. Attach the Top Panel

Position the top panel onto the enclosure frame. Secure the top panel using M5x10 screws and M6x12 screws (if the enclosure is 1000mm wide or above). Tighten all screws to a torque of 4-5 Nm.

  6. Attach the Back Panel

Position the back panel onto the enclosure frame. Secure the back panel using the appropriate screws (Ref. A, B, C, with Ref. C used only on 1200mm wide enclosures). Tighten all screws to a torque of 4.5-5 Nm.

  7. Mount the Bottom Plates

Position the bottom plates (left and right) into the enclosure base. Secure the bottom plates using M8x16 screws and St. 5.5x10 screws. Tighten all screws to a torque of 10-15 Nm.

  8. Seal the Bottom Plates (for IP55 rating)

Install the BG01 sealing kit (ordered separately) to ensure the enclosure achieves an IP55 environmental rating.
