How to Install the G520846G060 SPECTRACOOL Air Conditioner

Installation guide for mounting and wiring the G520846G060 SPECTRACOOL Air Conditioner.

Estimated time: 45m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Wrench, Ratchet driver

Supplies needed:

Mounting gasket kit, Copper conductors, Slow blow or HACR circuit breaker

  1. Test Functionality

Inspect the air conditioner and verify correct functionality before mounting. If the unit has been in a horizontal position, ensure it remains upright for at least five (5) minutes before operating. Do not operate the unit while it is horizontal or on its side, back, or front, as this can cause permanent damage and void the warranty. Refer to the nameplate for electrical requirements and wire the unit to a properly grounded power supply using only copper conductors. The minimum circuit ampacity should be at least 125% of the amperage shown on the unit nameplate. No other equipment should be connected to this circuit. Immediately after applying power, the evaporator blower should start. Operate the air conditioner with the compressor running for five (5) to ten (10) minutes by setting the cooling thermostat or controller setpoint below the ambient temperature. Condenser air temperatures should become warmer than normal room temperatures within a few minutes after the condenser impellers start.

  2. Install Mounting Gasket

Using the provided mounting gasket kit, install the gaskets to the air conditioner according to Figure 1.

  3. Mount the Air Conditioner

Mount the air conditioner onto the enclosure, taking care not to damage the mounting gasket, which provides the seal between the unit and the enclosure. Avoid dragging the air conditioner on the enclosure with the gasket attached to prevent rips or tears. Start mounting bolts by hand before tightening with a wrench or ratchet driver to avoid cross-threading.

  4. Connect Power Supply

Refer to the nameplate for electrical requirements and wire the unit to a properly grounded power supply. The unit's terminal block is located behind the evaporator access panel on the rear (enclosure side) of the unit. For 3-phase units, after applying power, verify that the phase monitor light is illuminated, indicating correct electrical phasing. The electrical circuit should be fused with a slow blow or HACR circuit breaker.

  5. Set Thermostat or Controller

If the air conditioner requires a remote-mounted thermostat, wire the thermostat outputs to the appropriate terminals on the 24 VAC terminal strip, referencing the correct wiring diagram. Set the thermostat or controller setpoints for the required cabinet temperature. Refer to the Sequence of Operation on page 4 for thermostat adjustment and operation, or page 15 for controller setpoint adjustment and operation. Note that the thermostat dial may be protected by a plastic bushing during shipment; remove and replace it to adjust the thermostat. Do not set the enclosure thermostat to a temperature lower than 70 F for normal operation, as this can cause coil freeze-ups.
