The nVent EXAS150SS6 Hazardous Location Hole Seal is a robust, stainless steel 316 solution engineered for demanding industrial environments where safety and reliability are paramount. Designed to meet the rigorous demands of hazardous areas classified as ATEX Zone 1, Zone 2, or IECEx Zone 1/2, this self-centering hole seal provides a secure, dust-, oil-, and water-tight barrier for metallic, non-painted enclosures. Certified for use in Increased Safety (Ex e) applications, the EXAS150SS6 ensures compliance with stringent safety standards while delivering long-lasting performance in harsh conditions. Hole seals like the EXAS150SS6 are essential components in industrial electrical installations, where they protect against ingress of contaminants that could compromise equipment integrity or pose safety risks. The M50 size designation indicates compatibility with 1.50-inch openings, making it ideal for sealing extra pushbutton holes, conduit openings, and knockout openings in control panels, junction boxes, and enclosures. Its stainless steel 316 construction offers superior corrosion resistance, making it suitable for use in chemical processing plants, oil and gas facilities, water treatment plants, and other corrosive environments. Installation is straightforward thanks to the self-centering design, which simplifies alignment and ensures a consistent, reliable seal every time. Unlike generic hole seals, the EXAS150SS6 is specifically engineered for hazardous locations, where failure is not an option. Professionals in industries such as mining, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, and manufacturing rely on nVent’s reputation for quality and innovation to safeguard their operations. With a focus on durability and compliance, this hole seal reduces downtime and maintenance costs while enhancing safety protocols. nVent, a global leader in electrical and thermal management solutions, designs products like the EXAS150SS6 to meet the evolving needs of industrial professionals. How to Install the EXAS150SS6 Hole Seal

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the EXAS150SS6 Hole Seal to ensure a secure and safe enclosure for cable entries.

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, 3/8 in. hex driver or wrench

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Gasket, Outer plate, Retainer plate, Hex nut

  1. Check hole size

Verify the hole size in the enclosure using the provided chart. Clean and de-burr the hole, ensuring the edge is at least 12mm from the edge of the enclosure gland plate.

  2. Mount the gasket

Place the gasket onto the outer plate (item 1) to prepare for installation. Ensure it is aligned properly.

  3. Fit the outer plate

Insert the outer plate and gasket into the cable entry from the outside of the enclosure. Ensure that the gasket is properly positioned to seal the enclosure before proceeding.

  4. Secure the retainer plate

Mount the retainer plate (item 3) onto the stud and secure it with the hex nut (item 4). Use a 3/8 in. hex driver or wrench to torque it to 18 in*lb (2 N*m). Avoid over-tightening.

  5. Verify installation

Check that the product label on the retainer plate is visible from the inside of the enclosure. Perform a final inspection to ensure all components are securely fastened.
