How to Install the AST6223R Type 1 Splitter Trough

Instructions for installing and wiring the AST6223R Type 1 Splitter Trough. Ensure all electrical and mechanical clearances are checked before energizing circuits.

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Pliers

Supplies needed:

Wire connectors, Ground block (optional, e.g., ASG4, ASG8)

  1. Prepare the enclosure

Open the enclosure door. Identify the main wire feed and knockouts. If using the right side top knockout for main wire feed, rotate the splitter block closest to it 180 degrees and remount it in the top holes.

  2. Position the splitter block

Ensure the right terminal block aligns with the right main wire feed. If it does not, reposition the block.

  3. Route the main wire feed

Route the main power wires through the appropriate knockouts or openings into the enclosure, connecting them to the main lugs on the splitter block. Refer to the datasheet for specific wire ranges and ampacity. Ensure all electrical and mechanical clearances are maintained.

  4. Connect branch wires

Connect the branch circuit wires to the branch lugs on the splitter block. Ensure proper wire stripping and secure connections. Refer to the datasheet for specific wire ranges and ampacity.

  5. Install ground block (if applicable)

If using a ground block (e.g., ASG4, ASG8), install it according to its specific instructions and connect the grounding conductors.

  6. Final checks and closing

Verify all connections are secure and that all internal and external electrical and mechanical clearances are checked to assure safe and proper operation. Close and secure the enclosure door.
