How to Repaint a Hoffman Enclosure
Guide for preparing and repainting nVent HOFFMAN standard TGIC polyester powder coated enclosures for best adhesion results. Always follow specific instructions from your paint manufacturer.

180 grit sandpaper, 220 or 240 grit sandpaper, Solvent, Clean cloths
Supplies needed:
Compatible two-component epoxies, Compatible two-component polyurethanes, Compatible alkyd baking enamels
- Check Paint Compatibility
Check with the paint manufacturer to ensure the paint you are applying is compatible with the existing TGIC polyester powder coating on the nVent HOFFMAN product. Refer to nVent.com/hoffman for the specific paint finish of the product you propose to repaint.
- Prepare Surface by Sanding
Thoroughly sand all enclosure surfaces with 180 grit sandpaper. If sanding marks are objectionable, finish sanding with 220 or 240 grit sandpaper. Correct surface preparation is essential for best adhesion results.
- Clean Surfaces with Solvent
Wet wipe all surfaces with a solvent to remove any possible contaminants, ensuring a clean and prepared base for paint application.
- Apply Paint Coats
