Overview

Enhance environmental protection for your critical equipment with the nVent ADK42A Drip Shield Kit. Specifically designed for nVent two-door, floor-mount enclosures with a 42-inch width (B=42.00), this kit provides superior defense against liquid ingress and airborne contaminants. The ADK42A creates a protective barrier to prevent water, condensation, or other liquids from dripping onto enclosure doors and into the interior, safeguarding sensitive components. It also mitigates dust and debris settling on door surfaces, preserving seal integrity. Installation is efficient, attaching securely with included stainless steel screws and sealing washers. The kit replaces standard hardware with durable stainless steel components, including a hinge pin and door clamping assemblies, ensuring long-term performance. Manufactured from 14-gauge steel with an ANSI 61 gray polyester powder paint finish, the ADK42A is built for demanding industrial settings. Ideal for manufacturing, water treatment, food and beverage, and petrochemical applications where enclosures face challenging environmental conditions. SKU: ADK42A. UNSPSC: 39121321. How to Install the Drip Shield and Hinge Pin

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the drip shield and stainless steel hinge pin on an enclosure.

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Hammer, Center punch, Locking pliers, Screwdriver, Drill

Supplies needed:

10−32 screws, Nylon washers, Hex nuts, Sealer, Stainless steel hinge pin, Stainless steel door clamps

  1. Install the Drip Shield

Center the drip shield above the door of the enclosure. Position it against the door opening flange. Drill one of the end holes using a 7/32 inch drill, then install a 10−32 screw through the shield and enclosure. Use the drip shield as a guide to drill the remaining holes and install the remaining screws, nylon washers, and nuts.

  2. Apply Sealer

Apply sealer between the drip shield and the enclosure to ensure a watertight seal.

  3. Install the Stainless Steel Hinge Pin

Lay the enclosure on its back. Use a hammer and center punch to start the removal of the existing steel hinge pin. Clamp locking pliers to the exposed end of the pin and strike the pliers with the hammer to remove the pin. If necessary, cut the new stainless steel hinge pin to the proper length, then start the pointed end into the hinge loops and drive it in using the pliers and hammer.

  4. Install Door Clamps

Remove each clamp assembly and install the stainless steel clamp assembly as shown in the installation guide.
