What is the operating temperature range for AMPMODU housings?
The operating temperature range for black thermoplastic AMPMODU housings is -65°C to +105°C.
What is the maximum current rating per contact for this system?
The AMPMODU system is rated at 3 amperes maximum per contact, dependent on the mating connector.
What is the centerline spacing for the AMPMODU interconnect system?
The AMPMODU interconnect system features a 0.100 in [2.54 mm] centerline spacing.
What is the dielectric withstanding voltage for this system?
The dielectric withstanding voltage is 750 V rms at sea level.
What is the insulation resistance of the AMPMODU system?
The insulation resistance is a minimum of 5,000 megohms.
What is the rating of the 0.025 [0.64] square interconnection system?
This system is rated at 3 amperes per contact.
What is the flame retardant rating for the housing material?
The housings are flame retardant, black thermoplastic, and rated 94V-0.
What wire sizes are compatible with Mod IV, MTE, and MT product families?
These product families are compatible with 26-22 AWG [0.3-0.4 mm2] wire for pins and 32-20 AWG [0.03-0.6 mm2] wire for receptacles.
What are the available plating options for AMPMODU posts?
Available plating options include selectively plated gold (0.00030 in and 0.00015 in) and tin/nickel plating.
What is the purpose of the anti-overstress stops in the receptacle contact?
Anti-overstress stops limit the deflection of the spring members, preventing excessive permanent deformation of the receptacle contact.
How to Crimp and Install AMPMODU Receptacle Contacts
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for preparing wires, crimping AMPMODU MOD IV, IV1/2, and V receptacle contacts, and inserting them into compatible housings. It also covers essential inspection criteria for proper termination.
Estimated time: 30m
Tools needed:
Wire Strippers, Crimping Tool (Hand Tool or Applicator), Extraction Tool (Optional)
Supplies needed:
AMPMODU MOD IV, IV1/2, or V Receptacle Contacts, AMPMODU MOD IV Connector Housings, Electrical Wire (32-20 AWG)
- Prepare Wire for Crimping
Strip the wire insulation to the specified length according to Figure 2 in the application specification for your specific wire gauge and contact type. CAUTION: Ensure the wire conductor is not nicked, scraped, or cut during this stripping operation.
- Crimp the Receptacle Contact
Select the appropriate crimping tool (hand tool or applicator) for your wire size and contact type as specified in Section 5, TOOLING. Position the contact in the tooling and terminate the wire according to the tool's instructions. CAUTION: Ensure the wire insulation is NOT cut or broken, and the insulation is NOT crimped into the contact wire barrel.
- Verify Crimp Quality
Visually inspect the crimped contact to ensure it meets the requirements outlined in Section 3.3 and Figure 10. Verify that the crimp height and length are correct, bellmouths are evident, the wire barrel seam is closed without loose strands, and the insulation barrel firmly grips the insulation without cutting it. Confirm the wire conductor and insulation are both visible in the transition area.
- Insert Crimped Contact into Housing
Carefully insert the crimped contact into the desired position within the AMPMODU MOD IV housing. Ensure the contact is fully seated and the locking lance engages the housing to secure the contact in place, as shown in Figure 10.
- Extract Contact from Housing (Optional)
If a contact needs to be replaced or relocated, use the appropriate extraction tool (e.g., 843473-1, 843475-1) as listed in Section 5, TOOLING. Follow the instructions provided with the extraction tool to release the locking lance and remove the contact without damaging the housing or other contacts.
