This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Mighty-BOND™ Split Grounding/Bonding Bushing onto threaded conduit or fittings.

Screwdriver, Torque wrench

Supplies needed:

Mighty-BOND™ Split Grounding/Bonding Bushing, Grounding conductor, Bonding conductor

  1. Open and position the bushing

    Open the Mighty-BOND™ split bushing and place it around the conductors on the threaded end of the Rigid or Intermediate Metal Conduit (RMC or IMC).

  2. Close and align the bushing

    Close the bushing and ensure it is aligned to access the set screw, grounding lug, and hinge screw. Back out the set screw sufficiently to allow the two halves to close fully on the conduit or fitting.

  3. Tighten the screws

    Tighten the hinge screw first, followed by the set screw. If applicable, tighten the enclosure bonding screw. Ensure all screws are tightened to the UL Torque requirements of 35 in-lbs.

  4. Insert grounding conductor

    Insert the appropriate sized grounding or bonding conductor into the lug and tighten the screw to the UL recommended torque based on the wire size.
