Overview

The NSI Industries SGB-38514 Split Bushing is a zinc die-cast, insulated grounding bushing designed for 1-1/2 inch conduit with a 14-4 lug. Unlike conventional threaded bushings, the split design allows installation after wire pulling, eliminating the need to thread bushings onto conduit or fight with pullers. This saves significant time and effort, especially in tight spaces or multiple conduit runs. The integral grounding lug ensures continuous ground integrity and cannot be lost or misplaced during installation. The bushing features a 150°C-rated nylon insulator with a rounded design to reduce wire-pulling drag and prevent abrasion. The cone-point mounting screw locks securely into both threaded and non-threaded rigid conduits, while the nylon locking patch prevents loosening from vibration. Accepts copper or aluminum ground wires from 14 AWG to 4/0 AWG. UL listed (File #E3060) and CSA certified (File #LR2884), conforming to U.L. 514B, U.L. 467, CSA C22.2 No. 18, and CSA C22.2 No. 41. Reduces inventory by handling extended wire ranges and conduit sizes, making it ideal for industrial, commercial, and utility applications.

How to Install the Mighty-BOND Split Grounding/Bonding Bushing

The Mighty-BOND Split Grounding/Bonding Bushing is UL Listed for use with threaded Rigid or Intermediate Metal Conduit. Its unique design allows installation after conductors have been pulled, ensuring a code-compliant grounding/bonding connection.

Mighty-BOND Split Grounding/Bonding Bushing, Grounding/Bonding conductor

  1. Open and Position the Bushing

    Open the Mighty-Bond™ split bushing and place it around the conductors, positioning it onto the threaded end of the RMC, IMC, or fitting.

  2. Close and Align the Bushing

    Close the Mighty-Bond™ bushing, ensuring it is fully closed on the threaded conduit or fitting. Align it to access the set screw, grounding lug, and hinge screw. Verify the set screw is backed out sufficiently to allow full closure.

  3. Secure the Bushing

    First, tighten the hinge screw, then tighten the set screw. If applicable, tighten the enclosure bonding screw. Tighten all screws to UL Torque requirements (35 in-lb).

  4. Connect the Grounding/Bonding Conductor

    Insert the appropriately sized grounding or bonding conductor into the lug. Tighten the lug screw according to the UL Recommended torque table: 10-14 AWG Copper/10-12 AWG Aluminum (35 in-lb), 8 AWG (40 in-lb), 4-6 AWG (45 in-lb), 2/0-3 AWG (50 in-lb).
