- Disconnect power
Before starting the installation, ensure that all sources of power to the circuit are disconnected to eliminate the risk of electrical shock.
- Mount the receptacle
Secure the DXN receptacle to the wall box or panel using appropriate mounting screws. Ensure that the pawl/latch is oriented at the top for optimal performance.
- Prepare and connect wires
Insert the cable through the wall box, strip the cable sheath, and then strip the individual wires to the lengths specified in Table 3. Twist the strands of each conductor together, back out the terminal screws on the receptacle just enough to insert the conductors, and then tighten the screws to the specified torque.
- Assemble the receptacle
Attach the color-coded gasket and secure the receptacle to the wall box using the provided hardware. Avoid over-tightening to prevent cracking of polymeric components.
- Connect the plug
To connect the plug, align the red arrow on the plug with the red arrow on the receptacle, push the plug in until it hits a stop, rotate it clockwise until it hits another stop, and then push it in fully to secure the connection.
- Verify connections
Use a multimeter to check the electrical continuity of the ground circuit and ensure that all connections are secure and properly tightened.
- Calibrate and test
After installation, test the functionality of the plugs and receptacles by connecting and disconnecting them several times to ensure proper operation.
