How to Install the PNCX Connector

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the safe installation and wiring of the PNCX connector in industrial environments.

Estimated time: 45m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter, 22mm Crowfoot wrench, 30mm Crowfoot wrench

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Protective caps

  1. Verify power is off

Ensure that all sources of power to the circuit are disconnected to eliminate the risk of electrical shock.

  2. Prepare the cable

Insert the cable through the compression nut, bushing, and handle. Strip the cable outer jacket to ensure it extends at least 12.7 mm (½ inch) into the handle for a secure grip.

  3. Connect the conductors

Back out the terminal screws enough to allow the conductors to pass. Insert the conductors fully into their respective terminals and hand-tighten the screws to the specified torque.

  4. Mount the connector

If mounting to a panel, drill a 25.4 mm (1 inch) hole. Insert the back of the receptacle through the hole and secure it with the locking nut, torquing it to 3.4 N-m (30 in-lbs).

  5. Finalize assembly

Slide the cord nut, bushing, and handle up to the receptacle/inlet. While holding the handle, screw the receptacle/inlet into the handle and tighten the cord nut with a 22mm Crowfoot wrench to 3.4 N-m (30 in-lbs).

  6. Test the connection

Reconnect power and verify that the connection is secure. Use a multimeter to check for electrical continuity and ensure proper operation.

  7. Calibrate and maintain

Periodically check the tightness of the cord nut and receptacle. Inspect the contact surfaces for cleanliness and ensure the weight of the cable is supported by the strain relief mechanism.
