Overview

The Macromatic COH05A1BJ is an Overcurrent Sensing Relay designed for monitoring and protecting electrical systems from excessive current. This unit operates by sensing AC current and initiating a trip sequence when the monitored current exceeds a predefined fault level for a specific duration. Upon receiving input voltage, after an initial power-up sensing delay (ts), the COH05A1BJ begins its monitoring function. A fault condition is identified when the monitored AC current (I) rises above the set Fault Trip Current threshold and remains above the Reset level for a period exceeding the adjustable time delay (t). Once a fault is detected, an integrated LED indicator illuminates immediately. The relay energizes only after the time delay on pick-up (t) has been completed. The relay will de-energize, and the LED will extinguish, when the monitored AC current drops below the specified Reset level. This device is essential for preventing damage to electrical equipment caused by overcurrent faults. Manufacturer: Macromatic. SKU: COH05A1BJ. Series: COH05A.

How to Install the COH05A1BJ Overcurrent Sensing Relay

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and configuring the COH05A1BJ Overcurrent Sensing Relay in a suitable enclosure.

Estimated time: 45m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, 0.25" male quick-connect terminals

  1. Mount the relay

Secure the COH05A1BJ relay in a suitable enclosure using two #6 screws. Ensure it is mounted securely and is level.

  2. Connect the current-carrying wire

Pass the current-carrying wire that needs to be monitored through the current sensor of the relay.

  3. Set the Fault Trip Current

Adjust the Fault Trip Current setting to the desired level where the relay should energize during a fault condition. Refer to the specifications for maximum allowable current.

  4. Set the time delay on pick-up

Configure the time delay on pick-up to prevent nuisance tripping while ensuring adequate protection against overcurrent.

  5. Make electrical connections

Connect all electrical connections using 0.25" male quick-connect terminals as per the provided wiring diagram.

  6. Verify installation

Ensure all connections are secure and correct. Restore power to the relay and check for proper operation.
