Overview

The Hammond Power SH3T0500PB3K is a 500 kVA, three-phase, 600V Class energy-efficient harmonic mitigating transformer designed to meet DOE2016 and NRCan 2019 energy efficiency standards. This transformer incorporates advanced zero sequence flux cancellation technology to mitigate harmonic distortion generated by non-linear loads, reducing negative impacts on electrical systems. Primary voltage rating is 600 D PV with a secondary voltage of 208Y/120 SV, making it suitable for industrial applications requiring precise power quality control. Key features include copper windings for optimal conductivity and durability, shielded construction to minimize electromagnetic interference, and a temperature rise rating of 150°C (with options for 130°C, 115°C, or 80°C). The transformer meets NEMA ST 20 tap requirements with options including 2 x ±5%, 4 x ±2.5%, or 2 x +2.5%/4 x -2.5%. Secondary neutral connections are rated at 200% of the rated secondary phase current for enhanced safety. Insulation class is 220°C with high-grade, non-aging silicon steel laminations in the core. Coil conductors are continuous copper with brazed, welded, or bolted terminations. Vacuum pressure impregnation ensures long-term reliability. In-rush currents are limited to 15x RMS, and the transformer is designed for certified performance with non-linear test bench validation. Primary-to-secondary phase shift options include 0° or -30° for single output units to cancel 5th & 7th harmonics, or 0° & -30° or -15° & -45° for dual output units to cancel 11th & 13th harmonics. This transformer is ideal for facilities with variable frequency drives, UPS systems, or other non-linear loads where power quality and efficiency are critical.
