How to Install the MPEX Explosion-Proof Pull Station
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the installation and initial setup of the MPEX explosion-proof pull station.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter
Supplies needed:
Mounting screws, Terminal connectors
- Unpack the pull station
Carefully unpack the pull station and inspect it for any damage that may have occurred during transit. If damaged, do not install and file a claim with the carrier.
- Mount the splice box
Securely attach the splice box to a rigid surface using 1/4" diameter mounting bolts. Ensure the box is level and firmly fixed.
- Connect the conduit
Attach a 3/4" conduit to the splice box. Pull the wires through the conduit and into the splice box.
- Make electrical connections
Ensure power is off. Strip approximately 1/4" of insulation from the end of each wire. For normally open circuits, connect wires to terminal positions 1 and 2. For normally closed circuits, connect to positions 3 and 4. Connect the ground wire to the ground screw in the splice box. Tighten terminal screws securely.
- Install the cover assembly
Place the cover assembly on the pull station and tighten the four cover bolts. Ensure that a 0.0015" feeler gauge does not penetrate the flange joint by more than 1/8" at any point.
- Test the system
After installation, test the system to verify that each pull station operates satisfactorily along with the connected devices.
- Establish a testing program
Create a schedule for periodic testing of the device in accordance with NFPA 72 and local fire codes.
- Provide instructions to personnel
Distribute a copy of these installation instructions to all personnel responsible for routine testing and maintenance of the equipment.
