How to Install the FB24STHI-024C-CN Visual Signal Appliance
Installation guide for mounting and wiring the FB24STHI-024C-CN visual signal appliance for the hearing impaired.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Drill, Wire strippers
Supplies needed:
Mounting screws, Wire connectors
- Unpack and Inspect
Carefully unpack the unit and inspect it for any damage that may have occurred during transit. If the equipment is damaged, do not attempt to install or operate it. File a claim immediately with the carrier.
- Choose Mounting Location
Select a mounting location that is at least 24 inches (610 mm) below the ceiling. The device is intended for indoor use on a wall or ceiling in a non-sleeping area. Consult with the facilities and safety engineers for optimal placement.
- Mount the Appliance
For pipe mounting, thread the unit onto a 1/2 inch or 20 mm pipe and tighten to a minimum torque of 5 ft-lb (6.8 N•m). For surface mounting, use the gasket as a template to mark three mounting holes and a center hole for wires. Drill 3/16" (4.8 mm) holes for mounting and a 1" (25.4 mm) hole for wires. Attach the light to the mounting surface using the provided 8-32" screws.
- Make Electrical Connections
WARNING: Do not connect wires when power is applied to avoid electrical shock. The operating voltage range is 16-33 Vdc. Observe polarity carefully as incorrect hookup may damage the unit. Connect one red (+) lead to the positive side of the incoming power source and the other red (+) lead to the outgoing power source. Connect one black (–) lead to the negative side of the incoming power source and the other black (–) lead to the negative side of the outgoing power source. Connect the green/yellow lead to earth ground if required. Use 18 AWG wire or larger.
- Final Checks and Testing
After installation, ensure that the set screw and threaded joints are properly tightened. Keep the unit tightly closed when in operation. Test the light for proper operation. Provide a copy of these instructions to all operating personnel and establish a procedure for routine checks.
