How to Install the eHorn-HV Electronic Horn
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and configuring the eHorn-HV electronic horn for optimal performance.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter, 7/16" socket, 3/8" socket, 1/4" socket, 6" extension
Supplies needed:
Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Grommets, Bushings, Wire ties
- Mount the eHorn-HV
Hold the eHorn-HV against the mounting surface and use the four mounting holes on the bracket as a template. Scribe drill-position marks on the mounting surface, drill holes at each mark, and secure the eHorn-HV using installer-supplied 1/4" screws.
- Open the housing
Remove the four 1/4"-20 locknuts on the bracket assembly and the four 1/4"-20 hex head screws from the back of the bracket assembly. Loosen the four cover screws while supporting the housing to prevent it from falling.
- Wire the eHorn-HV
Ensure power is off to avoid electrical shock. Connect the red wire to the positive terminal and the black wire to the negative terminal on the Aptiv connector. Use grommets and bushings to protect the wires from abrasion.
- Select the tone
To select the desired tone, move the jumper on the tone generator/amplifier board according to the specifications provided in the manual.
- Close the housing
Verify that the cover gasket is in place, align the housing with the cover, and tighten the cover screws hand tight. Torque the screws to 60 in-lb ± 10 in-lb.
- Activate the horn
Apply the appropriate line voltage to the horn power input connector to activate the horn. Ensure that the horn remains active as long as line voltage is present.
