How to Install the 191XL Series LED Beacon
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and wiring the 191XL Series LED Beacon in hazardous locations.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter
Supplies needed:
Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Conductive sealant
- Unpack and Inspect the Beacon
Carefully unpack the beacon and inspect it for any damage that may have occurred during transit. Do not proceed with installation if the beacon is damaged.
- Mount the Beacon
Choose a suitable location for the beacon. For pipe mounting, ensure the mating threads are clean, apply conductive sealant to the conduit threads, and secure the beacon to a 3/4" pipe using the set screw. For surface mounting, use the mounting base as a template to mark and drill two 9/32 inch holes, then secure the beacon with the supplied hardware.
- Wiring the Beacon
Ensure power is off before connecting wires. For 120-240 Vac models, connect the black lead to the hot side and the white lead to the neutral side of the power source. For 24 Vac/dc models, connect the red lead to the positive side and the black lead to the negative side. If applicable, connect the green/yellow lead to earth ground.
- Reconnect Power and Test
After completing the wiring, ensure all connections are secure and the beacon is properly closed. Reconnect power to the beacon and test its operation to ensure it is functioning correctly.
- Calibrate the Beacon
If necessary, change the beacon from Flash Mode to Steady Mode by disconnecting power, removing the dome assembly, and adjusting the jumper on the printed circuit board as per the instructions. Reassemble and test the beacon again.
