How to Install the 154XST-S12-24A Strobe Light

Installation guide for mounting and wiring the 154XST-S12-24A strobe light for use in harsh environments and hazardous locations.

Estimated time: 45m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Wire strippers

Supplies needed:

Conductive sealant, Mounting screws, Grounding wire

  1. Inspect for damage

After unpacking the 154XST-S12-24A, examine it for any damage that may have occurred during transit. If the equipment is damaged, do not attempt to install or operate it. File a claim immediately with the carrier.

  2. Mount the strobe light

Ensure mating threads are clean. Apply conductive sealant to the conduit threads prior to mounting. Thread the 154XST-S12-24A onto a 3/4" pipe and secure with the set screw (B). If non-conductive sealant is used, ensure the enclosure is earthed via the provided internal grounding wire/grounding screw (A) to ensure proper grounding continuity. Use properly rated conduit seals/drains to prevent moisture from entering the fixture, especially in high-humidity environments when units are mounted dome down.

  3. Install optional dome guard

If using the dome guard accessory (Part #K8449090), mount it on the 154XST-S12-24A using the two supplied #8-32 screws. Adjust the tension on the screws until the dome guard is square with the housing.

  4. Connect electrical wiring

WARNING: This is a four-wire device, and all four wires must be terminated. Failure to terminate both red and both black wires will result in a shock or fire hazard. Connect one red (+) lead to the positive side of the incoming power source and the other red (+) lead to the outgoing power source. Connect one black (–) lead to the negative side of the incoming power source, and the other black (−) lead to the negative side of the outgoing power source. Observe polarity to prevent damage. If required, connect the green screw (A) to an earth ground.

  5. Verify installation

After installation, ensure that the set screw is properly tightened and that threaded joints are fully engaged. Test the light system to ensure it is operating properly.
