What does the IP69K rating signify?
IP69K is the highest Ingress Protection rating, designed for products exposed to high-pressure and high-temperature washdowns. It ensures protection against dust and powerful water jets.
What are the dust testing parameters for IP69K?
IP69K products are dust-tight tested in an Arizona A2 Dust chamber for 6 seconds every 15 minutes for five hours.
What are the water testing parameters for IP69K?
IP69K products are tested with 1160–1450 psi water sprays from 4 angles, 4–6 inches away, at 176°F (80°C).
Where are IP69K products typically used?
IP69K products are ideal for food and beverage, wastewater, pharmaceutical, marine, medical facilities, and medical equipment manufacturing applications.
How does IP69K protection compare to NEMA Type 4?
IP69K protects against close-range, high-pressure, high-temperature water jets. NEMA Type 4 protects against high-volume, low-pressure water from longer distances.
What benefits do IP69K products offer?
IP69K products reduce failures from water/dust ingress, increasing productivity and decreasing production downtime in harsh environments.
What certifications do Federal Signal IP69K products hold?
Federal Signal IP69K products meet or exceed UL, CSA, CSFM, IECEx, and other global certifications. The company is also ISO 9001 Certified.
Does Federal Signal offer many IP69K product models?
Yes, Federal Signal offers over 700 models of IP69K products for safe area, hazardous, and explosion-proof applications.
What are the testing conditions for IP69K products?
Products are dust-tight tested and undergo high-pressure steam jet cleaning with water sprays of 1160–1450 psi from 4 angles at 4–6 inches distance and 176°F (80°C).
How to Install the 151XST-S240R Strobe Light
Installation guide for mounting and wiring the 151XST-S240R hazardous location strobe light.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter
Supplies needed:
Mounting hardware, Conductive sealant, Conduit seals/drains
- Inspect the beacon
After unpacking, examine the 151XST-S240R for any damage that may have occurred during transit. If damaged, do not install or operate; file a claim with the carrier immediately.
- Determine mounting location and method
Select a mounting location considering the facilities engineer and safety engineer's direction. The 151XST-S240R can be pipe-mounted (151XST) or surface-mounted (151XST-S). Ensure the operating temperature does not exceed the hazardous atmosphere's ignition temperature by consulting the nameplate and Table 4.
- Mount the beacon
For pipe mounting, ensure mating threads are clean, apply conductive sealant to conduit threads, thread the fixture onto the 3/4-inch pipe, and secure with the set screw. For surface mounting, use the mounting base as a template to mark holes, drill 9/32-inch holes, and secure with installer-supplied hardware.
- Wire the beacon
Ensure power is off. Remove the threaded dome assembly. Connect the leads according to the model: black to phase and white to common for AC models, or red (+) to positive and black (–) to negative for DC models. If required, connect the green screw to an earth ground. Secure the dome assembly and test the beacon.
- Verify installation
After installation and wiring, test the 151XST-S240R to ensure it is operating properly. Ensure the set screw is tightened and threaded joints are fully engaged.
